Brown Sugar-Soy Glazed Salmon with Green Onions

Tender oven-baked salmon brushed with a sweet-savory glaze of soy, garlic, and ginger, then broiled briefly for sticky, caramelized edges. Fresh green onions and sesame seeds finish it off. Dinner is ready in about 25 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds Salmon
  • 2 cloves of Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger
  • 2 Scallions
  • 3 tablespoons Low-Sodium Soy Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Rice Vinegar
  • ¼ teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 Nonstick Cooking Spray
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame Oil
  • 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Corn Starch
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame Seeds

Directions

  1. Heat the oven to 400°F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil and coat it with cooking spray.
  2. In a small saucepan, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and cornstarch. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring, and cook 1 to 2 minutes until glossy and slightly thickened. Remove from the heat.
  3. Pat the salmon dry and arrange it on the baking sheet, skin side down if it has skin, with a little space between pieces. Season with the black pepper and brush about half of the glaze over the tops.
  4. Bake 10 to 12 minutes, until the salmon flakes easily and the thickest part reaches 135 to 140°F.
  5. Brush the remaining glaze over the fillets. Switch the oven to broil and broil 1 to 2 minutes, watching closely, until the edges caramelize.
  6. Sprinkle with the green onions and sesame seeds and serve with spoonfuls of the pan juices.
