Common questions
- What is myDinnerPlan?
- myDinnerPlan is a web app for household dinner planning. You save recipes, plan the week, collect who is eating, and build a shopping list from the plan. It does not sell or deliver food or meal kits — unlike HelloFresh or Blue Apron, you keep your own groceries and your own kitchen.
- How do you use myDinnerPlan?
- Create a free account, add recipes (or use the public recipe library), put dinners on the week, and — on Household or Pro Household — generate a shopping list and share the plan with your household. You can plan by hand or auto-generate a varied week. Link Alexa to ask what's for dinner or hear cooking steps hands-free.
- Does myDinnerPlan work with Alexa?
- Yes. Enable the free myDinnerPlan skill on Amazon Alexa, link your account once, then ask what’s for dinner tonight or hear cooking steps hands-free. Alexa works on every plan, including Starter. Setup steps and example phrases are on the Alexa page at /alexa.
- Does myDinnerPlan work with Home Assistant?
- Yes. Install the myDinnerPlan Home Assistant integration via HACS: add the custom repository Acscorp1/ha-mydinnerplan (category Integration), download it, restart, then add myDinnerPlan under Devices & services. Create a read-only token in Account Settings and paste it. Dashboard cards show tonight’s ingredients and steps, and the shopping list (Household or Pro). Tomorrow, a week calendar, and recipe photos are included too. It works on every plan, including Starter. Setup is at /home-assistant.
- Does myDinnerPlan have built-in recipes?
- Yes. There is a shared public recipe library you can cook from on day one. You can also type your own family meals. You do not have to start from a blank library.
- How do I import recipes? Can I upload a CSV?
- Type a recipe by hand on Starter. Household can paste recipe text and turn it into ingredients and steps. Pro Household can import from a recipe URL and bulk-upload CSV, Paprika, Copy Me That, or JSON-LD. There is no TikTok, Instagram, or photo import yet.
- What does myDinnerPlan cost?
- Starter is $0 with no credit card and up to 7 upcoming meals planned by hand. Household is $3.99/month or $39/year. Pro Household is $6.99/month or $59/year. New Pro Household subscribers can start a 14-day trial (card required). Prices are on the public pricing page.
- Is there a promo code?
- There is no standing public promo code. Occasional codes may appear in optional product emails or in your account. One code per checkout. See the Promotion Terms page.
- Does it auto-generate meals or only plan by hand?
- Both. Starter is manual only. Household and Pro Household can auto-generate and quick-pick a week from your library (and the public library). Pro Household adds pantry-first planning, filters, and theme nights.
- Is there a mobile app?
- myDinnerPlan is an installable web app. Add it to your home screen from any browser in two taps. No app store needed, and it works offline once installed.
- Can I export my recipes if I leave?
- Yes. From Account settings you can download a JSON export of your recipes, meal plans, pantry, and household data — your library is yours. Pro Household can bulk-import CSV, Paprika, Copy Me That, and JSON-LD when you move in; we do not lock recipes to a proprietary format only we can read.
Promo rules: Promotion Terms. Billing help: Contact.
