Chewy Maple Oatmeal Bars

These delightful bars feature a chewy oat base sweetened with maple syrup and brown sugar, with optional raisins or pecans for added texture and flavor.

40 mins 1 batch of 12

Ingredients

  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 Egg
  • ½ cup Unsalted Butter
  • 2 cups Old-Fashioned Oats
  • ½ cup Raisins Or Pecans
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Baking Soda
  • ½ cup Light Brown Sugar
  • ⅓ cup Maple Syrup
  • 1 Salt

Directions

  1. Mise en place: Preheat oven to 350°F. Line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper, ensuring there's overhang on two sides for easy removal.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the old-fashioned rolled oats, all-purpose flour, packed light brown sugar, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the melted unsalted butter, pure maple syrup, egg, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients and stir until everything is evenly moistened. Gently fold in the raisins or chopped pecans.
  5. Press the mixture firmly and uniformly into the prepared baking pan.
  6. Bake for 22 to 26 minutes, or until the top appears set and the edges are lightly golden. Be careful not to overbake, as this can result in dry bars.
  7. Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Once cooled, lift the parchment paper to remove the entire block, then cut into 12 bars.
